Meet this month’s corporate team spotlight, Nick Moulder, Business Development Manager! Nick was nominated for the spotlight by his colleague, Dave. Dave said, “Nick does a great job pushing SAM forward and helping grow our business.” Get to know Nick in the Q&A below!
Q: Can you introduce yourself and provide some background on your role within SAM? What are your primary responsibilities and areas of expertise?
A: My name is Nick Moulder. I am a Business Development Manager at SAM. My responsibilities are to provide market insight, analyze properties/reporting, provide performance projections, and work toward helping our clients grow their portfolios.
Q: What attracted you to this role and our company?
A: My journey with SAM began in operations in the fall of 2017. I learned the nuts and bolts of self-storage by absorbing whatever I could from my time in the store, by traveling to transition storage assets, and the many things I encountered as a District Manager. As a Business Development Manager, I am able to leverage my experience in operations to provide thorough and detailed insight on assets and markets to SAM clients.
Q: What do you enjoy most about working at SAM? Is there a specific aspect of your job or the company culture that you find particularly rewarding?
A: Since I’ve been with SAM for a few seasons now, I most enjoy watching our team members grow into new roles. SAM does a great job at cultivating talent and promoting from within.
Q: Has a memorable life lesson or advice shaped your outlook or approach to life and work?
A: “Praise in public and coach in private.” SAM’s Sr. VP of Operations, Lynn Sykes shared this phrase with me when I was a District Manager. This advice has been useful for me both at work and at home with my three praiseworthy children.
Q: Outside of work, what hobbies or interests do you enjoy pursuing in your free time?
A: As a Florida native, I enjoy outdoor activities where there is plenty of sunshine, salt water, and mosquitoes.
Q: Can you share a fun fact about yourself?
A: I’m left-handed but I golf and swing a bat right-handed.
Q: Is there anything else you’d like to share about yourself?
A: My top bucket list trip is to go to Fiji.
