Meet the Team - Bethany Gourley

Q:  How long have you been working for SAM?

A:  I have been with SAM for seven years.

Q:  How did you come to be part of the team at SAM? What attracted you to this role and our company? 

A:  I was a stay-at-home mom that went through a divorce. I had a long break in employment and was nervous about getting back into the workforce. I had apartment management experience, took that experience, and ran. After applying, I was consistently met with one amazing person after another. I had finally found “home.” I started out as an assistant manager here in Michigan. I leveled up to store manager, then after a few years I went to our customer care center. Now, I remotely manage five properties in PA and two in New York.

Q:  What do you enjoy most about working at SAM? Is there a specific aspect of your job or the company culture that you find particularly rewarding?

A:  The camaraderie of SAM is unmatched. I have made lifelong friends here due to the culture in which SAM has created. Not to mention the opportunities the company has given me to succeed.

Q:  Is there a memorable life lesson or piece of advice that has shaped your outlook or approach to life and work?

A:  Something that has always stayed with me were the words my dad once told me, “A man is only as good as his word.” He could not have been more correct.

Q:  Can you share a fun fact about yourself?

A:  I raise butterflies

Q:  Is there anything else you’d like to share about yourself?

A:  I am a proud mom of two amazing humans. My daughter Lauren, and my son, Silas.

Q:  What is your go-to Sunday cleaning/organizing song? 

A:  Mac Miller-Good News I just hit shuffle and let ’em play. Everything from classical, to rock, to alternative, to southern gospel, oldies, the list goes on.
