Meet this month’s store team spotlight, Durandal Langes, the manager of 4 Storage of Philadelphia. Durandal was nominated for the spotlight by his peer who said, “Durandal was very welcoming to me when I started. He still takes time to listen and ask how I am doing. I really enjoy knowing that if I need help, Durandal would be there with compassion and kindness.” Get to know Durandal in the Q&A below!
Q: How long have you been working for SAM?
A: I have been with SAM now on and off for seven years. I had a little bit of a break in 2021 and came back in 2022. We’ve been going strong ever since, and I am now in the district manager in training position.
Q: How did you come to be part of the team at SAM? What attracted you to this role and our company?
A: I was attracted to the culture and the team building. I love helping, learning new things, and growing, and I wanted a more challenging position.
Q: What do you enjoy most about working at SAM? Is there a specific aspect of your job or the company culture that you find particularly rewarding?
A: What I like about my new role is I get to go out to the different stores, meet different people to see how they do their job, and learn from them as well as give my input to try to show them the SAM way. We grow together.
Q: Outside of work, what hobbies or interests do you enjoy pursuing in your free time?
A: Outside of work, I love to bowl, play poker, go to the movies, and hang out with the Mrs.
Q: Is there a memorable life lesson or piece of advice that has shaped your outlook or approach to life and work?
A: A life lesson that I have learned that I try to take into each day is to make every day better than yesterday.
Q: Can you share a fun fact about yourself?
A: I love to think I know how to sing.
Q: Is there anything else you’d like to share about yourself?
A: People tell me I look very serious, but I’m one of the most easy going people on the planet Earth. I just recently celebrated my 23rd anniversary. I’ve been married to my wife since 2002, we met in 1996. I also have a dog named Jaxs, he took the place of our kids as we became empty nesters in 2017.
