Michelle Prevatte

Meet this month’s store team spotlight, Michelle Prevatte, district trainer and store manager of Valley Storage – Burgaw. Michelle was nominated for the spotlight by her peer, Savannah. Savannah said, “She consistently exceeds expectations in her role. Her dedication, positive attitude, and willingness to go the extra mile make a noticeable difference in our team’s success.” Get to know Michelle in the Q&A below!

Q:  How long have you been working for SAM?

A:  Four years

Q:  How did you come to be part of the team at SAM? What attracted you to this role and our company?

A:  I joined the SAM team when new owners purchased the store I was working at. I had been with my store for 24 years at that time, so it made sense to me to stay and give it a try. I stayed because I started growing with SAM, I love storage, and I love being a district trainer. I also love how much I have grown as a person. I truly am not the same person I was the day I started with SAM.

Q:  What do you enjoy most about working at SAM? Is there a specific aspect of your job or the company culture that you find particularly rewarding?

A:  I love the flexibility, the new people I get to meet, and the ability to have those dream vacations. The rewarding part of this job to me is in the training. To watch someone new learn something they had never done, and then it really clicks and their face lights up, that just tickles me to know that I could help someone, and hopefully they learn to love this job a much as I do.

Q:  Outside of work, what hobbies or interests do you enjoy pursuing in your free time?

A:  I am a readaholic. (Yes, that is a word.) I can lose days when I am reading, especially if I happen to be at the beach or floating in the pool.

Q:  Is there a memorable life lesson or piece of advice that has shaped your outlook or approach to life and work?

A:  I truly can’t say it is one thing that has helped me be who I am today. With SAM, I think I have tried to take a little bit from everyone that has given me advice along the way. I have had some amazing mentors and have met some people in this business that will never know how much I have taken their words to heart and learned from all of it.

Q:  Can you share a fun fact about yourself?

A:  I met my husband when I was seven years old (we lived in the same neighborhood) and we have been happily married for thirty-three years.

Q:  Is there anything else you’d like to share about yourself?

A:  We have never been empty nesters. We have three very spoiled fur babies, two Shih-Poo, Hershey and Snickers, and one Goldendoodle, Gracie Mae. One other thing about me I would love people to know, I have been very blessed with a wonderful husband and three kids and six grandkids. Life does not get much better than this!!!!
