Q: Can you introduce yourself and provide some background on your role within SAM? What are your primary responsibilities and areas of expertise?
A: My Name is Doug Pierce, and I’m currently working at SAM in the District Manager (DM) role since January 2025. I supervise locations in the NC area. As the DM in operations for SAM, I help to lead the teams at the stores we manage to be the most successful version of themselves for the property’s owners and for SAM. Being in the storage industry for 24 years, I would say sales, storage knowledge, and customer service are definitely my areas of expertise.
Q: What attracted you to this role and our company?
A: I was convinced by employees I knew that worked for SAM that this was the place to work. They were right! Good people I’ve worked with at prior companies, and I’ve known and trusted for years, worked at SAM and said I would fit right in with the company’s beliefs and culture. It has been a great decision all around.
Q: What do you enjoy most about working at SAM? Is there a specific aspect of your job or the company culture that you find particularly rewarding?
A: Definitely the people. It’s always about working with the best in an industry that brings out the best in everything you do. What I find rewarding about the job is knowing I’ve helped as many people as possible along the way to also be successful and wanting to make a difference in someone else’s life.
Q: Has a memorable life lesson or advice shaped your outlook or approach to life and work?
A: Just that you need to be good to people and be a good person. Be kind, caring, and thoughtful in everything you do. That goes a long way in life and in work.
Q: Outside of work, what hobbies or interests do you enjoy pursuing in your free time?
A: I love to play golf and took up pickleball about five years ago and really enjoy it. I’m also a sports car enthusiast.
Q: Can you share a fun fact about yourself?
A: I’m older than I look (or at least that’s what people say, lol)!
Q: Is there anything else you’d like to share about yourself?
A: I have two adult daughters, who are the pride of my life. I’ve been married to the same woman for a long time (won’t say how long, because she doesn’t think she’s that old). No current pets, but I do have grandpups (four of them). My passions are anything sports related and fast cars.
