SAM Team Member Spotlight: Ronn Tisby

Customer Care Center Supervisor of Storage Asset Management

Ronn Tisby

Q:  Can you introduce yourself and provide some background on your role within the company? What are your primary responsibilities and areas of expertise?

A:  Sure! My name is Ronn Tisby, and I am one of the current supervisors for the SAM Customer Care Center (CCC). Over the past year, myself and my team consisting of Matt Pfalzer and Sarah Eppley, under Darren Laratonda, have worked to bring SAM’s call center in house. My primary responsibilities right now are overseeing a team of sales professionals in a fast-paced contact center environment with the primary goal of driving occupancy and revenue growth across the SAM portfolio.

My other responsibilities include working with contracted vendors and developers to continuously improve the performance of the SAM CCC through project management and pushing performance beyond our expectations.

Q:  How did you come to be part of the team at SAM? What attracted you to this role and our company?

A:  Prior to coming to SAM, I worked in the industry for close to eight years with Life Storage. My original background did come from call center management; however, for the previous three years I worked with storage and commercial facility owners as a success/asset manager for the third-party management division of the company. I was able to make many connections and gain a deep understanding and love for the industry through both roles.

I joined SAM after receiving ringing endorsements about the culture and vision that is so important here. Once I was able to meet the leadership team and visit the home office, I knew I had made the right choice! I now currently work out of the home office based in York, PA and it has been a great experience thus far.

Q:  What do you enjoy most about working at SAM? Is there a specific aspect of your job or the company culture that you find particularly rewarding?

A:  I think the answer is right there in the question. The culture and attitude of everyone from executive leadership down has been incredible. What really sticks out to me is the openness to ideas across the board. It feels like everyone’s voice echoes loudly no matter your position.

Q:  Is there a memorable life lesson or piece of advice that has shaped your outlook or approach to life and work?

A:  As cheesy as it sounds, I think the biggest thing is to trust yourself and be open to learning from mistakes. I’ve always tried to challenge myself (sometimes too much, which has definitely backfired on me in the past!). At the end of the day, I feel I am much stronger from these challenges, and the confidence gained is invaluable.

Q:  Outside of work, what are some of your hobbies or interests that you enjoy pursuing in your free time?

A:  I’m a big movie buff, so I enjoy going to the theater or even enjoying a good flick at home. I also enjoy live music, stand up comedy, and trying new restaurants.

Q:  Can you share a fun fact about yourself?

A:  A fun fact is that my name has two Ns in it and it is not short for Ronnald. My full name is Ronn (some people have called me Double N in the past, but I think that has been all but retired).

Q:  What is your go to Sunday cleaning/organizing song?

A:  Daft Punk – One More Time
