Q: Can you introduce yourself and provide some background on your role within the company? What are your primary responsibilities and areas of expertise?
A: My Name is Jess Marsh and I am on the HR team as an HR analyst. My area of expertise is our HRIS and payroll system, UKG. I assist all departments with daily UKG tasks and I am the primary project manager of new implementations within UKG.
Q: How did you come to be part of the team at SAM? What attracted you to this role and our company?
A: I was looking for a growing company with lots of room for improvements in UKG. I wanted to make a difference and get everyone excited for their newly purchased product. I really connected with the head of HR and I knew after meeting just a few team members it was the place for me.
Q: What do you enjoy most about working at SAM? Is there a specific aspect of your job or the company culture that you find particularly rewarding?
A: I just love the people I work with. The most compassionate, friendly, and professional coworkers make it easy to do my job. We have the best culture, everyone pitches in when needed.
Q: Is there a memorable life lesson or piece of advice that has shaped your outlook or approach to life and work?
A: Learn as much as you can. I have never regretted any time spent learning something new.
Q: Outside of work, what are some of your hobbies or interests that you enjoy pursuing in your free time?
A: I am number one, a mom, so I dedicate most of my time to my girls. I also love adventures, whether checking out a new city or picking up a new hobby. My latest pursuits are Mahjong, playing Violin, and learning Italian.
Q: Can you share a fun fact about yourself?
A: I am originally from Newfoundland, Canada and I can speak French.
Q: Is there anything else you’d like to share about yourself?
A: I have two beautiful girls, a loving husband, and the makings of a mini farm (chickens, rooster, cats and dogs). I am very passionate about my career and I am an active member in Junior League. I strive to have a good work life balance.
Q: What is your go to Sunday cleaning/organizing song?
A: My go to is typically a crime podcast, but if I’m caught up it would likely be any new hip hop or 90s music.
