SAM Team Member Spotlight: Mickie Mellott

Team Member Spotlight: Mickie Mellott

IT Manager of Storage Asset Management

Mickie Mellott

Q:  Can you introduce yourself and provide some background on your role within the company? What are your primary responsibilities and areas of expertise?

A:  My current role as IT Manager – Transitions and Store Support allows me to provide outstanding customer support to all store and field-level team members by leading a store focused team of IT professionals. Additionally, I sit with the transition team, ensuring all new developments and acquisitions are onboarded with the technology needed to operate a manned facility or run one virtually.

I would say my strongest ability is putting the pieces together for functional and practical technology resources that streamline technology use.

Q:  How did you come to be part of the team at SAM? What attracted you to this role and our company?

A:  I found SAM through Indeed when I was searching for something different – previous employment included healthcare and government IT – it was time for something different.

The initial conversations I had with HR and management were warm, inviting, and made me feel like I was joining a family of storage professionals.

Q:  What do you enjoy most about working at SAM? Is there a specific aspect of your job or the company culture that you find particularly rewarding?

A:  Seeing a project come through to completion or the light-bulb moment, when someone realizes technology will solve or improve their current issue.

Q:  Outside of work, what are some of your hobbies or interests that you enjoy pursuing in your free time?

A:  I enjoy running my own company, providing DJ and photo booth services to central PA clients. My family is important to me and I enjoy spending time with them every summer, camping and getting outdoors.

Q:  Can you share a fun fact about yourself?

A:  I played guitar as a teenager and wish I would have stuck with it.

Q:  Is there anything else you’d like to share about yourself?

A:  Recently, my wife Jessika has started working for SAM; she’s a Bookkeeper in the accounting department. Both our daughters are active in music programs with their middle school. Our oldest, Ayden, is active with band, playing multiple percussion instruments. Bayley, our youngest, is in chorus and enjoys signing all the time!

Like many, we have a family dog and cat. Their names are Buddy and Angel; we take Buddy with us camping and Angel is always waiting at the door when we return – she likes love and attention after we are away for more than a day.
